First Impressions...

First Impressions.

It's a normal part of life and we do it all the time. Sometimes it comes so spontaneously that we end up doing it without even knowing. Whether it's that new kid in your class or your friend's new girlfriend. All of us are guilty of judging people by the first thing they say or do.

But the thing that makes me laugh the most is how most of our first impressions that we make are usually wrong.

Actually when you think about it, a lot of the people that we judge can either surprise or disappoint us in the end by either exceeding or falling below our expectations.

But that's the beauty of life.

The reason why I'm writing about this is because of what happened 2 nights ago. Earlier that day I was chosen to be working at the ticket box with a person that I did not really know. She has been working there for almost a year and she was supposed to train me so that I would be able to do it perfectly once I got the hang of it. But even before setting foot inside, I was already having my doubts.

I kept constantly thinking to myself how I would be able to keep a conversation going with someone that I barely even met and worse, my trainer.

So basically, I tried to devise a plan to try to talk to her about random stuff regarding the job and her life. Little did I know that it ended up becoming one of the best "training days" that I've ever got.

Cutting the story short, we ultimately ended up surprising each other and later confessing that we both had the same initial impressions towards each other at the beginning of the day. We even both said that we expected complete awkwardness towards each other, but in reality it ended up not happening.

Actually it was better than expected. And I couldn't have been more surprised and even a little happy that it happened the way it did.

This made me realize that just when you think that you have a good grasp of the person, they can possess a totally different side that you did not see or even expect at first.

It makes life more interesting that way. Besides what's life if our first impressions of others are constantly right every time?

And you know what, I would rather have the person prove my first impression wrong than proven right any day.

It makes life worth living and unexpected at the same time.

And I wouldn't want it any other way...

=)
